I have been trying to turn this off for five months. One of the most sneaky culprits for weight gain: Cocktails. For starters, the alcohol itself is calorie-rich—and the calories are “empty,” or nurtitionaly useless, to boot. (A two-ounce pour of gin, for instance, can have nearly 150 calories.) Then, pile on juices, sugars, syrups—and there’s no way you’re having only one. These numbers add up.

Beautycounter Some of the moves are a little ambitious. The jumping mule kicks did nothing but demonstrate my clumsy acrobatics. This is more of a balance cardio workout with a little plyo thrown in so don’t expect a Max 30 level kicking.

The trainer responsible for the portion-controlled eating and the shorter, approachable workouts of the 21 Day Fix is Autumn Calabrese. This mother-of-one and fitness competition competitor brings her own unique style to the table. After experience with trainers from Shaun T to Tony to Leandro to Sagi, Autumn is calmer and always reassuring, she is like your bff offering words of encouragement. She’s not in your face, which some will love, but I like a bit more of drill sergeant type trainer when lifting. I have had the opportunity to meet Autumn at a book signing in person, and I can say she is exactly the same as in her workout programs…one of the nicest and most encouraging people I have ever met.

It does require a little more to start up (sliders, bands, a good range of weights) than a normal Beachbody program, and I don’t think that all of the supplements are necessary. Of course a coach and the cast of the program swear up and down that they are, but I disagree.

So far I am happy with the program. I have lost 4 lbs in 4 days but I am wondering if there is somewhere I could find recipes or suggestions for meals. I am so afraid of not sticking to the program that my meals have been pretty boring.
